Brandi's Thoughts:
Enemies by Robert J. Crane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thank you Robert Crane!

Crane once again writes a great story! My favorite was delving more into Mythology in this installment. Having more interaction with the "old" Gods was a good touch.

I also really enjoyed getting to know Janus and I really hope he gets through his injury. For a few books now, we've thought there were clear lines of whose good and whose bad. The dictoriate being the good guys and Omega bad. Crane did an excellent job messing with our heads in this book. Nothing is a clear line anymore, it's more who is the lesser evil. I'm a fan of the group of Omega survivors so far and am excited to learn more about them.

Now on too the next book for me. Great job Robert, thank you for writing this series!

Seventeen-year-old Julia Wright doesn't understand her friends' obsession with boys. She's never even had a crush, and proudly maintains her composure no matter who is in her presence. In fact, the hotter a guy is to her friends, the more annoying he seems to Julia. When she is blackmailed into being the manager of the men's swim team, she finds herself face to face with the worst of them all.
Team Captain Vander Thelxinoe is the typical self-assured jock, with a not-so-typical ability to change people's minds at will. It's a talent he uses often to get what he wants--only his charms don't work on Julia. Now he is anxious to figure out why, and the closer he tries to get, the more desperate she is to stay away--especially when he somehow awakens a side of her she never knew existed.

Great book! Its been in my library for awhile and I finally got to it. Very glad and sad it took me so long. :) The friendship between the three girls is great, Lizzy and Taylor make me laugh over their fangirling.

Trial by Dreams Review

Trial by dreams
written by: Jolene Buchheit
published: October 15, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis:
Julia and Vander thought their trial was over. But Demeter has only just begun wreaking havoc on their lives.

Julia finally accepted that her boyfriend is the son of a Siren and her family isn't as normal as she once thought. But when she accidentally unlocks a power she didn't know she had, her world dissolves into chaos once more. Now she is forced to uncover the truth about who she truly is, in order to triumph over their most important quest yet.

For Vander, the stakes have been raised as he seeks what was taken from him, torn between his need to protect Julia from Demeter and his focus on their second trial. What starts as a twisted journey across Iowa dissolves into recurring dreams that foreshadow a dark fate should they fail to work together.

As the fear of failure builds and time ticks away, Julia and Vander must learn to trust their instincts – and one another – before their reality spins into a nightmare that rips them apart.

Brandi's Thoughts:
Trial by Dreams by Jolene Buchheit
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow!

First let me just say, I absolutely did not expect that to happen at the end! Major twist. Good job on that, I don't recall any foreshadowing. I like to be surprised :)

Anywho, great 2nd installment to the series. Cant wait for more. Hopefully Julia calms down a little bit. Sometimes I forget they are supposed to be seniors in high school and not middle schoolers. Reading about the closeness of Lizzy, Taylor and Julia makes me miss my high school friendships. I absolutely love it.

Also, I really enjoyed getting to know more of the Greek gods and goddesses on this bool. Alot of research went in. I don't know much about mythology but it sounds pretty legit. :) Excited to meet more in the next book.

Keep them coming Jolene.

Poison's Kiss Review

Poison's Kiss
Written by: Breeana Shields
Published:January 10, 2017

Goodreads synopsis:
Marinda has kissed dozens of boys. They all die afterward. It's a miserable life, but being a visha kanya, a poison maiden, is what she was created to do. Marinda serves the Raja by dispatching his enemies with only her lips as a weapon.

Until now, the men she was ordered to kiss have been strangers, enemies of the kingdom. Then she receives orders to kiss Deven, a boy she knows too well to be convinced he needs to die. She begins to question who she s really working for. And that is a thread that, once pulled, will unravel more than she can afford to lose.

This rich, surprising, and accessible debut is based in Indian folklore and delivers a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

My Thoughts:
This book was the first I had ever read from Breeana Shields. I enjoyed how she spun legend into the plot. I reallu enjoyed how original this tory was. I liked how Marinda so selflessly loved her little brother even though he wasn't blood. I liked how she fought the rules even when faced with danger. This was a very interesting story and look forward to reading more from this author.

Fated Review

Fated
Written by: Donna Augustine
Published: March 16, 2015

Goodread synopsis:
Settling the cosmic score is what Karma was drafted by the Universe to do. But what happens when all the humans start going to the dark side? She’s got to find the source and the most likely suspect is her long time rival, who outclasses her in both power and resources.Luckily, she’s got a new partner, Fate, but he comes with his own set of complications. The confirmed bachelor has a target of his own.

My thoughts:
Fated is the third installment in the karma series written by Donna Augustine.

Karma and fate were now at war and the stakes were extreme. Now that everyone in the team was up to speed they all watched each other's back. Karma and fates relationship is taking an unexpected turn. Paddy Introduces Paddy Introduces Karma to the others and fia is not a fan. Fia will stop at nothing to get rid of karma, but why?

This series was fantastic, I will admit this book made me angry for a little bit towards the end but then it redeemed itself quickly. I look forward from reading more from this author

Jinxed Review

Jinxed
Written by: Donna Augustine
Published: November 10, 2014

Goodreads synopsis:
Karma, it’s what they call me and the very essence of who I am. When I died young, I was recruited by the agency that keeps the Universe running smoothly. As someone with a human past, most of my coworkers consider me inferior. But not everyone. Something evil has been stalking me for centuries. It’s been biding its time, waiting for the moment when it will strike and it needs me to to do it.
Its methods of recruitment are tearing apart every aspect of my life. I’m slowly losing myself, both mentally and physically. I don’t know who I can count on but I'm finding out how much I'm willing to sacrifice to save the ones I care about.

My Thoughts:
Jinxed is the second installment in the karma series written by Donna Augustine.
I downloaded the first book Karma through Amazon and fell in love with this series.

Karma by some twist is now stuck to be the balancing force of the universe. Fate can't understand why she didn't just leave. Now both will have to learn to deal with each other. When kitty goes into an early retirement, karma becomes suspicious and gets involved with a very bad man. While trying to find and save kitty, karma begins to make a ripple in the universe and lose a part of herself. Fate finally comes to the rescue with a surprise friend in his arsenal. Karma an fate have to work together if they are gonna save kitty and the universe.

This story is very original, I have never read a story about the forces of the universe such as karma, fate and lady luck. The characters are quirky and the story is very interesting
