Primed Son Review

Primed Son
written by: Eden Ashley
Published:November 26, 2015

Goodreads synopsis:

Kali’s maturity into the warrior she once was could not have come at a better time. Still haunted by his gruesome punishment in Golden Mountain, Rhane is slowly coming undone as the pressure mounts to save this world and preserve the lives of those closest to him. But given a miraculous chance to fix mistakes from the past, Rhane and Kali soon realize that the undertaking may be beyond the reach of even their combined powers.

The battle lines have been drawn as evil marches toward their doorstep. But who fights for which side has never been more unclear. And time is running out to separate friend from foe.

Torn between saving their family and saving the world, Rhane and Kali are faced with impossible choices…and devastating consequences. Because sometimes, a little evil is necessary to protect what is loved most…and sometimes, even that may not be enough.

My thoughts:

This is the final book in the Dark series by Eden Ashley. Rhane is still adjusting after his torment at Golden mountain. Kali's warrior skills have improved immensely and her control over her power has also. They will both need each other at top notch for the enemy they are about to face. Will they be able to do what is necessary to save their family or will that love destroy them?

This book was an amazing finale to a wonderful series. I was overjoyed with Bailen's love for his brother and his parents. Rhaven was a wonderful addition to the story.

Do not read this book unless you have read the rest of the series!

Blood Chained Review

published: November 18, 2014

Goodreads synopsis:
Sometimes great evil is necessary to keep what you love most.

After centuries on the run, Rhane can avoid justice no longer. Primes have called him home and now he must finally answer for the sins of his past. But the situation in Rhane’s homeland is far worse than anyone could have imagined, and the judgment Rhane faces is a brutal one. Even relying on the strength of the immortal Banewolf, the man he has become may not survive.

Kali and the other kin work tirelessly to secure Rhane’s freedom, but many obstacles stand in their way. Wesley offers a solution that hinges upon resuming a dangerous search for the Siren’s Heart. Trusting him, she and the kin set out once again to find the elusive artifact, believing Rhane and Warren’s freedom can be bartered in exchange for the statue. But other creatures are searching for the Heart. And with greater resources and a head start, their enemies may reach it first.

My thoughts:

This is the third installment of the Dark Siren series by Eden Ashley. Rhane has decided to go home and let the Primes doll out their punishment. He tells Kali he will be back and doesn't come back when he's supposed to. Kali becomes very melancholy during rhane's absence. When rhane gets back home he see that the situation is much worse than he feared and is unsure if there is anyone he can trust. As a last resort Kali goes to Wesley for help in getting Rhane back from the primes. Kali and the other kin set off on a dangerous journey to secure the siren's heart in hopes of securing rhane and war's release.

I love this series, with each book I fall more in love with the charcters and the story. I still love orrin, he is very dedicated to those he loves and his and kali's relationship is that of brother and sisiter or best friends and gets really strong in this book.

Again do not read this book unless you have read the first two in the series as you would be very confused.

Banewolf Review

written by: Eden Ashley
Published: November 19, 2013

Goodreads synopsis:

New enemies are made.

New allies must be forged.

Kali is beginning to regain her memories. In doing so, she discovers old secrets and betrayals that threaten to unravel her present and shake the foundation for Rhane’s belief in her innocence. While her maturing abilities present unique challenges, a bigger problem arises when Kali learns her ex-boyfriend has made a misguided deal with the enemy in order to win her back—a decision that may ultimately cost him his humanity.

Keeping Kali safe has become a full time job for Rhane. And struggling to gain control of the immortal Banewolf isn’t making that task any easier. The power to eliminate the growing threat against Kali lies at Rhane’s fingertips, but using it means risking his friends to the insatiable blood lust of a monster. So Rhane is forced to forge a shaky alliance with creatures he has sworn to destroy. Despite these new allies, the danger pressing on their borders intensifies, culminating in a heartbreaking and shocking finale.

The strength of the bond between young and ancient lovers will be tested…and if Kali and Rhane are to survive, they must find a way to be unbreakable.

My thoughts:

This is the second book in the Dark siren series by Eden Ashley. Kali now stays with Rhane, as it makes it much easier for him to protect her.  Rhane decides to make allies out of the kindred so that Kali is properly protected, even though as banewolf he was sworn to destroy their kind. Two kindred join the ranks of Rhane soldiers at the behest of Ian the leader of the kindred pack. Callhan, Kali's ex has forged a deal with one of Kali and Rhanes enemies in an attempt to win her back.

I love this book just as much as the first, the story develops well and has very loveable characters. I love how all the charcaters seem to grow throughout the series and none of them just stay stagnant in their development.

I wouldn't recommend reading this book if you have not read Dark siren by Eden Ashley because without the information in the first book you would be lost.

Dark Siren Review

Goodreads synopsis:

To survive, their bond must be unbreakable.

When the mysterious and passionate Rhane rescues Kali from an attacker in the theater parking lot, they form an immediate, smoldering connection. But Kali doesn't remember Rhane or anything from their past. As far as Kali knows, she's just a seventeen-year-old kid coping with an insatiable hunger for the “spark” or energy of others, feeding on classmates to survive.

A unique artifact—one that may hold the key to returning Kali’s memories—is uncovered by the archaeology firm where she works part-time, sending Kali and Rhane on a dangerous journey that leads them to the Forbidden City, into the unforgiving Gobi, and into the ruins of Rhane’s ancient homeland. As they fight for survival, Kali begins to discover who she really is and the true power she possesses.

But Rhane still harbors a secret that could destroy Kali…unless old enemies kill her first.

My thoughts:
This is the first book in the Dark Siren series written by Eden Ashley. The story follows Kali who has an unusual  need to feed from human boys. Her peers are not to fond of Kali and her shennagins with the boys of the school. Kali gets rescued by Rhane in the movie theater parking lot and she's instantly intrigued. Rhane shows up again and again and he seems to know Kali but Kali doesn't know him. When the archaeology firm Kali works for finds a one of a kind artifact Kali is thrown into a dangerous journey to self discovery. Rhane has finally found her and he refuses to lose her agin, now he is in a race against old enemies to get to Kali first.

This book was very good, I love sirens and you don't see a lot of books written about them. Kali is a seemingly normal girl that feeds of the energy of the boys in her school, but you soon find out that her need to feed is linked to the immense power that hides inside her. Rhane is a dominant caring guy who seems to know more about Kasli then he's letting on. I love the charcters they are well developed and the story is very hard hitting, Inlove all the action in the book. My favorite character in the book though is Orrin, he is very protective of Kali and is a good soldier to Rhane.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy novels.

Down to my soul review

Down to my soul
Written by: Kennedy Ryan
Published By: Kennedy Ryan
Publish Date: March 29, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis:
RHYSON

She doesn't wear my ring.
We never stood before a preacher.
The only vows exchanged were between our bodies; between our souls.
But she was mine and I was hers until I ruined it. I have to believe that every day, every step, every breath brings me closer to making things right.
To making her mine again.

KAI

I've seen promises broken.
I know love makes no guarantees.
But things were different for Rhys and me, until he lied, and I walked away. Only there's a chain between our hearts that I can't break. Even if I forgive him, a shadow from my past hangs over us; over this love that reaches all the way down to my soul.

My thoughts:
This is the second book in the soul series written by Kennedy Ryan. Rhyson and Kai have managed to mess things up, however they both love each other so much. Rhyson has only seen examples of love from his controlling parents and doesn't know how to show it properly. Kai has been hurt by a man she loved so dearly and is unsure how to trust. They both took a chance to be together but because neither is really sure how to love they pushed each other away. What needs to be learned for them to mend their broken feelings. Can they manage to make love be enough and work through their issues. Kai just wants to do what she's always loved and do it by herself without anyone saying they are the reason she made it. Rhyson has the fame and can see Kai's talent but loves her and wants to protect her from the vultures in the industry. Can Rhyson make up for his mistake and can Kai truly count on him to be there for her? I really enjoy this series very much.

My soul to Keep review

My soul to Keep
Written By: Kennedy Ryan
Published by: Kennedy Ryan
Publish Date: November 13, 2015

Goodreads synopsis:
KAI

I had two things in life that mattered. My mother and my music.
Mama was taken from me too soon, and now music is all I have left. It’s the thing that’s pushed me right out of backwoods Georgia into Los Angeles, where the line between fantasy and reality shimmers and blurs. I’m finally making my way, making my mark. I can’t afford to fall for one of music's brightest stars. Not now. Music is all I have left, and I’m holding on tight with both hands. I won’t let go, not even for Rhyson Gray.

RHYSON

I had one thing in my life that mattered – music. The only constant, it’s taken me to heights most people only dream about; a gift dropped in my lap at birth. I thought it was enough. I thought it was everything until I met Kai. Now she’s all I think about, like a song I can't get out of my head. If I have to chase her, if I have to give up everything - I will. And once she's mine, I won't let go.

My Thoughts:
I really love this story and the characters in it. I'm usually more drawn to fantasy or paranormal books but I love the romance in this book. Kai and Rhyson have that instant connection but they try to resist it and even with the connection they share, they can't stop themselves from getting in their own way. Kai is a very wonderful character she is so full of depth and is very relatable. Rhyson is this amazing star who loves music but is damaged and broken inside. Kai's backstory is full of pain and happiness and guilt and it felt so real while reading.

Ceruleans Print Party

This series spans over five books:

Death Wish:Seventeen-year-old Scarlett Blake is haunted by death. Her estranged sister has made the ultimate dramatic exit. Running away from school, joining a surfing fraternity, partying hard: that sounds like Sienna. But suicide? It makes no sense.

Following in her sister’s footsteps, Scarlett comes to an isolated English cove with grand plans to uncover the truth. Alone. But she hasn’t reckoned on meeting two boys who are determined to help her. Luke: the blue-eyed surfer who’ll see the real Scarlett, who’ll challenge her, who’ll save her. And Jude: the elusive drifter with a knack for turning up whenever Scarlett’s in need.

As Scarlett’s quest for the truth unravels, so too does her grip on reality as she’s always known it. Because there’s something strange going on in this little cove. A dead magpie circles the skies. A dead deer watches from the undergrowth. Hands glow with light. Warmth. Power.

What transpires is a summer of discovery. Of what it means to conquer fear. To fall in love. To choose life. To choose death.

To believe the impossible.

Forget Me Not:Death is stalking Scarlett Blake. As if the encroaching darkness in her head wasn’t enough, she’s become disturbingly accident prone. Falling off a cliff isn’t ideal when all you want is as much time as possible to live, to love.

Her fate is horrifying. Unbearable. And inescapable. No one can save Scarlett from The End that’s looming. Not Jude, the Cerulean who is intent on Claiming her. Not Luke, the boy who is intent on loving her.

The clock is ticking, louder with every heartbeat. Now Scarlett must decide how best to protect the people she loves. Will she trust in Jude and the life-after-death he promises? Will she stand against the Fallen, who have her sister captive? Will she carry the burden of her death alone – every headache, every hallucination, every wrenching, aching emotion?

And when the clock falls silent, when the darkness eclipses the light, will Scarlett fight for life? Or will she have no choice but to surrender?

 Wild Blue Yonder:
When Scarlett Blake chose life-after-death as a Cerulean, she expected to grieve for all she left behind: her boyfriend, her best friend, her mother, her home. But at least Cerulea, her heaven, would be… well, heavenly. Right?

Wrong.

The world in which Scarlett awakens is very far from her idea of a utopia. Picturesque, sure, and serene. But there can be no paradise within the unforgiving walls of a prison, be they of cold, hard stone or beautifully blue water.

Now Scarlett faces her hardest decision yet: be a good, dutiful Cerulean, or be true to herself and fight for freedom.

And if she can find a way to escape, what then? Can she finally reunite with her lost sister? Can she save Sienna from the murderous Fallen? Can she evade her destiny with the Ceruleans?

Can Scarlett Blake ever reclaim her life-before-death… or must she let go of all she loves?

Devil in the Deep:
Scarlett is living her happy-ever-after, back in the real world. Only the ‘happy’ part is proving problematic.

For starters, there’s the isolation. Being a Cerulean among humans is fraught with risk, so her time with people can only be fleeting. Which means being with Luke but not being with Luke.

Then there’s her Cerulean light, her power over life and death. Less awesome talent, as it turns out, and more overwhelming responsibility. And it comes with rules – rules that are increasingly difficult to obey.

But what’s really pushing Scarlett to the precipice is something much bigger than herself, than her life in the cove. A force to be reckoned with:

Blood.

When long-buried truths are exposed, will Scarlett keep her head above water – or will she drown in the blood-dimmed tide that is unleashed?

Darkly, Deeply, Beautifully:

With her mother’s life hanging in the balance, Scarlett is devastated – and done with being in the dark. She wants answers, all of them.

But when was her pursuit of the truth ever straightforward?

Pulling a single thread impels a great unravelling. And each revelation will force Scarlett to rethink what she thought she knew about the Ceruleans, the Fallen, her family – herself.

All that came before was a mere prelude to this, the last journey. From London to Twycombe to Hollythwaite to Cerulea, Scarlett will be stalked by the ghosts of what has been, what may have been and what may come to pass. Until she reaches the place where it all began, and it all must end.

But in the final reckoning, none will survive unscathed. And some will not survive at all.

In this explosive conclusion to The Ceruleans series, all must be defined by their actions: sinner, saint… or something more beautiful entirely?

Megan Tayte bio

Once upon a time a little girl told her grandmother that when she grew up she wanted to be a writer. Or a lollipop lady. Or a fairy princess fireman. ‘Write, Megan,’ her grandmother advised. So that’s what she did.

Thirty-odd years later, Megan is a professional writer and published author by day, and an indie novelist by night. Her fiction – young adult romance with soul – recently earned her the SPR’s Independent Woman Author of the Year award.

Megan grew up in the Royal County, a hop, skip and a (very long) jump from Windsor Castle, but these days she makes her home in the village of Standish, Greater Manchester. She lives with her husband, a proud Scot who occasionally kicks back in a kilt; her son, a budding artist with the soul of a palaeontologist; and her baby daughter, a keen pan-and-spoon drummer who sings in her sleep. When she's not writing, you'll find her walking someplace green, reading by the fire, or creating carnage in the kitchen as she pursues her impossible dream: of baking something edible.

Havoc Review

Havoc
written by: Nina Levine
Published: March 8, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis:
Meet Havoc...

I was happy doing my own thing.
No connections.
No demands.
No problems.
Just me, my club and a whole lot of dirty work to take care of.
She never wanted a biker.
She wanted stability and I gave up on that years ago.
We tried to fight it.
Neither of us wanted it.
But she calms my fury and I show her a man who accepts every part of her.
Now we're trying to figure out how to be together.
Because when the need for each other is this strong, to deny it will only cause complete havoc.

My Thoughts:

Havoc is the 8th installment of the Storm MC series written by Nina Levine. I have read this whole series and seem to fall more in love with each new book. Havoc is a member of Storm MC and he is the go to guy when you need something real bad done to somebody. Havoc keeps women for a night and then moves on. Carla usually isn't in to bikers but Havoc has caught her eye and she's determined to have him for the night. Havoc and Carla are very different but the couldn't be more made for each other. Can Carla calm the beast that is Havoc? I love this book just as much as the rest, I love how we get to see a piece of each members life and then the other members show up in the other books. Nina is a phenomenal writer and I am extremely excited to read more of her work.
