The Sorceress Review

The Soceress
Written By: Michael Scott
Published: May 26, 2009

Goodreads Synopsis:

Nicholas Flamel's heart almost broke as he watched his beloved Paris crumble before him. The city was destroyed by Dee and Machiavelli, but Flamel played his own role in the destruction. Sophie and Josh Newman show every sign of being the twins of prophecy, and Flamel had to protect them and the pages from the Dark Elders.

But Nicholas grows weaker with each passing day. Perenelle is still trapped in Alcatraz, and now that Scatty has gone missing, the group is without protection. Except for Clarent—the twin sword to Excalibur. But Clarent’s power is unthinkable, its evil making it nearly impossible to use without its darkness seeping into the soul of whoever wields it.

If he hopes to defeat Dee, Nicholas must find an Elder who can teach Josh and Sophie the third elemental magic—Water Magic. The problem? The only one who can do that is Gilgamesh, and he is quite, quite insane.

My Thoughts:

The Sorceress is the third book in The secrets of The immortal Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott. Flamel and Perenelle are aging rapidly with every passing day.  The twins are both awkened and in need of training in the lemental magics. Sophie already has the training of both wind and fire and Josh has yet to get any training in the elemental magics. Perenelle finds an ally in an unlikely place but it is necessary for her escape from Alcatraz. Dee and Machiavelli have failed once to capture Flamel and the twins and their elders are angry. With Scatty gone the only thing they have for protection is Clarent, the twin sword of Excalibur. Clarent is known for the evil power it possesses and Dee wants it for his collection, luckily Scatty taught Josh some moves with it and he should be able to weild it well. Can Flamel get both twins trained in all the elemental magics before he and Perenelle succumb to old age? Will Josh be able to fight the power of Clarent or will he succumb to the evil?

I love this Series, this book was fantastic and picked up exactly where The Magician left off. I love Perenelle and she seems extremely intelligent and powerful. Flamel is a man of many secrets and wisdom, but are his intentions good? I love all of the action in this series, it is constant and wonderful I love all of the gods and goddesses in this series and all of the myths within the story. Michael Scott is a fantastic writer and I already have the next book in this series and can't wait to read it.

Eternity Fades Review

Eternity Fades
Written by: Katelyn Anderson
Published:July 16, 2017

Goodreads Synopsis:

A fallen hero.

A fragile doll.

Left to pick up the scattered pieces of the assassin life she once knew, Joan discovers nothing is what it seems. Unknown horrors lie inside the tyrannical agency, secrets that will threaten the lives of anyone brave enough to uncover the truth.

Immortals and humans have never coexisted peacefully, a reality Joan wishes to change. Something sinister is lurking in the shadows, an ancient power that will wreak havoc and shatter any hope of peace. Can Joan and her allies stop darkness from destroying everything? Or will evil be unleashed into the world?

My thoughts:
Eternity Fades is the second book in the tainted souls trilogy written by the magnificent Katelyn Anderson. This book was fantastic, I was already in love with the characters and this book just made me love them more. I was very sad towards the end of the book. I can't wait to see what the next book holds, I want to see if Dane had a different side to him or if he really is just a soulless monster. I also want to see if Joan and Damian are up for the task ahead.

The Magician review

The Magician
Written by: Michael Scott
Published: June 5, 2008

Goodreads synopsis:

After fleeing Ojai, Nicholas, Sophie, Josh, and Scatty emerge in Paris, the City of Lights. Home for Nicholas Flamel. Only this homecoming is anything but sweet. Perenelle is still locked up back in Alcatraz and Paris is teeming with enemies. Niccolo Machiavelli, immortal author and celebrated art collector, is working for Dee. He’s after them, and time is running out for Nicholas and Perenelle. For every day spent without the Book of Abraham the Mage, they age one year-their magic becoming weaker and their bodies more frail. For Flamel, the Prophecy is becoming more and more clear.

It’s time for Sophie to learn the second elemental magic: Fire Magic. And there’s only one man who can teach it to her: Flamel’s old student, the Comte de Saint-Germain-alchemist, magician, and rock star. Josh and Sophie Newman are the world’s only hope-if they don’t turn on each other first.

My Thoughts:
The magician by Michael Scott is the second book in The secrets of the immortal Nicholas Flamel series. This book picked up right where the first one left off. I love this series, nicholas flame is an enigma, he srems like a good guy but you kind of wondrr if he isn't a bad guy. Perenelle is awesome and I love the couple flamel and the twins meet up with in Paris. I am fascinated with all of the legends and lore in this series and how well the wholr thing flows. I'm excited to see what the rest of the adventures of the twins and flamel have in store.
