Brandi's Review:

I won a copy of "Falling into Place" early in the year so I decided to start from the beginning. I am so happy I stumbled upon this series. I absolutely love it. I have read them all and now feel I can give an accurate and comparative review. From the first page I was enthralled in Fallon's story. The story line is balanced well with all the drama and action and intimacy chapters. After reading them all, this title is still my favorite story line.

Dark Angel Box Set 1-5
Written by: Hanna Peach
Published: August 7, 2015
Series: Dark Angel

Goodreads Synopsis:

 ANGELFIRE (#1)
Forget everything you know about angels…
You’ll likely find Alyxandria slicing demons with her blades rather than plucking at harp strings. Whether it's with weapons, unarmed or with the “borrowed magics” of distilled angel-blood tattoos, she trains harder than any other Seraphim warrior to prove she is nothing like her parents who abandoned her to become Rogues. After a series of confusing visions, Alyx saves Israel, a mysterious mortal who knows too much. She discovers she has been chosen as his Guardian. There’s just one problem. She is forbidden to even see him again. Why does he need protecting? And from who? The web of lies she uncovers will shatter her world. An Elders’ dark plan, a keye to unlock Hell, and a prophecy that warns of the greatest war this Earth will ever know….
it begins in Angelfire.

 ANGELSTONE (#2)
After escaping from the Hollows, Jordan takes Alyx and Israel to Aradale, a secret Rogue community, where they appear to be safe − for now. But did they bring the enemy with them? “Mini”, the strange and speechless young girl they rescued from the Hollows, is not as she seems. Why was Elder Michael keeping her locked up? What is she hiding? Out in the mortal cities, pieces of Black Stone, the only material that can disrupt the angels’ healing abilities, continue to be stolen to make weapons for Samyara’s dark army. Alyx and her friends must stop them, but this means infiltrating holy and guarded places to steal the Black Stone − a monastery in remote China, a mosque in Saudi Arabia, an art gallery in Florence and a cathedral in Peru.
Can they win this deadly race against the Darkened?

 ANGELSONG (#3)
If he dies, she dies…
Israel lies dying from a poisoned knife wound. To save him, Alyx needs Mayrekk’s help and the knowledge contained within the Threads of Dark. But Mayrekk remains imprisoned in Michaelea, being punished for his hand in Alyx’s escape, and Michael himself guards the key to Mayrekk’s freedom. And the Threads of Dark is kept within a secret chamber deep under the Archives of Urielos, a Seraphim city clinging to cliffs somewhere along the coast of Italy. Even if Alyx does manage to find a way into the city, the chamber is guarded by ancient riddles and deadly traps.
Can Alyx rescue Mayrekk and retrieve the Threads of Dark before Israel slips away?

 ANGELBLOOD (#4)
Seven days…
Israel seems…different since he came out of his coma. His life has been saved but Alyx had to make a deal with the devil to do so. She has to hand Israel over to Lucifer unless she finds a way to defeat Samyara. But to do this Alyx will need Israel and Jordan, the two men fighting for her heart, to work together. Can they put aside their differences long enough to defeat Samyara? Seven days until Israel is sentenced to Hell. Seven days to find Samyara. Seven days to raise an army.
This will be Alyx’s greatest battle yet.

 ANGELDUST (#5)
The thrilling conclusion to the Dark Angel series…
Everything about Michael’s dark plan has been hidden – until now. On an island off the coast of Egypt, a fourth Seraphim city has been discovered; a city that doesn’t appear on any Seraphim map.

 Brandi's Thoughts:
I absolutely recommend this series to everyone who reads supernatural/fantasy. It had me hooked from the beginning and I spent many nights up late reading. With continuous action and amazing descriptive writing you cannot go wrong with reading these. And the great thing, this series is still on going!! So exciting! For me it was a different story line on the ever growing popularity of supernatural/fantasy reads. Some are so similar they start blending together. Hanna's Dark Angel series definitely stands out and she does an amazing job of creating her own world, which is described beautifully in a way that is easy to imagine the books as if you're watching a movie.

Plus, by getting the box set you get to read all 5 books straight without waiting in between :)

Soul Seer: The Hidden Lights by Kestra Pingree
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book! The idea was different than most other reads. It pulled me in from the start. I thought the characters and setting was well developed. I would have liked to know more about Rimn's family in this first novel. The beginning was confusing with the time swapping, but I eventually got it.

Overall, I am very glad to have found this book, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the saga!

Again I really enjoyed this book. I was glad to see more flashbacks of Rimn's past. Still left with plenty of questions. But that just means more books to come. :) I liked that she got more independence in this book and was able to take care of herself a little more and start to build her confidence that her "gift" could be used to help others and not make things worse. I cant wait to see how her friendship with Squall goes. Can't wait til Kestra writes the next one!

It begins in Angelfire.

Brandi's Thoughts:
Angelfire by Hanna Peach
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Angelfire

Enjoyed this book a lot. The POV in this book was different for me. It took a little to get used to but I liked how Hanna was able to explore the minds of the other characters through out the book. My only wish was that these transitions were labeled right away so time and attention isn't focused on "which character are we following now?"

Alyx is an orphaned immortal angel whose whole life is turned upside down. People who she thought she could trust, she no longer can, and she finds allies where she would not think. She is a strong independent female who finds it hard to trust and ask for help.

Definitely give this series a try! I cannot wait to read more and I do not want it end! Thank you Hanna for creating this world and sharing it with us!!

I just absolutely love this series! It will be one that I will reread again and again. If the story line were to end with this book, I feel like it would have tied everything up. Brandi's Thoughts:
The Afterlife of Alyx & Israel by Hanna Peach
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG!!!! Hanna you have done it again, I absolutely loved this book. I just started reading this series about a month ago, so when I read AngelDust I was so upset with the ending. I just wanted more of Alyx and Israel. Super excited to hear you were releasing this one and then another Dark Angel novel.

****May contain some spoilers:

Anyways, to the review. The book was wonderful! Absolutely, loved the comic relief of having Vix, Jordan, and B right in the beginning; also through the book sometimes. I am so glad you chose those characters to come into this book and be apart of bringing Alyx and Israel together. :) Enjoyed your riddles in this as well. I am not very good at deciphering them myself so I like reading them figure them out by steps. I really liked how the dreamscape kinda felt like a game with all the obstacle they had to overcome and of course the riddles. Everything was well described and matched the events from the previous books.

I tried to read it and think about it as a standalone, to see if it would make sense (kinda hard though because I have read them all (: ). I do believe it could be read as a standalone and actually make sense. Hanna provided enough flashbacks, which I loved too, to understand the depth of Alyx & Israel. I do believe that if a reader decides to read this as a standalone, they will be tempted to go back and read the whole Alyx & Israel story. Which I definitely recommend too!!!

I enjoyed this series so much that I want to buy paperbacks for my library.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Family Review

Family
Written by: Robert J. Crane

Goodreads Synopsis:
Just hours after finding Andromeda and crossing paths with her mother, Sienna Nealon finds herself up against a bigger threat than ever before. Omega, the organization that unleashed Wolfe and others upon her, has declared war on the Directorate and the first strikes have already landed. Facing the seemingly unstoppable forces of Omega and Sienna’s own mother, the Directorate seems poised for defeat when a new threat rears its ugly head - a traitor in their midst, one that may mean the destruction of everything Sienna has come to care about.

Brandi's Thoughts:
Family by Robert J. Crane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story just keeps getting better and better. This particular installment is good because some questions are finally answered! For example: what is going on with Sienna's absent mother? There is some light shines on who Omega is.

Of course now we are left with more questions. But I feel good as some of the problems have been resolved.

Very good character development and storyline. As always I cannot wait to continue reading the series and am glad it's along one and still going!

Brandi's Thoughts:
Omega by Robert J. Crane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great book by Robert. I've seen others complain about the books being too expensive but books in print are more expensive for the same amount of pages. I feel if you like what you are reading then you should definitely support the author by buying books in any format. That said, I will continue buying this series til it is all finished because I cannot just stop mid-story without knowing what is going to happen. Every single one of these books is a great page turner. I've stayed up way to late many nights and then suffered greatly at work the next, reading. (idk if thats such a good thing though :) but it speaks loud about his work) I definitely recommend reading these and cannot wait to see what comes next.

OMG, I did not see that one coming at all! I was on the bus traveling to NY when I finished this crying my eyes out!! I cannot believe Zack is dead, the only thing that helps me feel better is that he is now in her head and can still be with her.

Brandi's Thoughts:
The Vampire Hunter's Daughter The Complete Collection by Jennifer Malone Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A colleague at work recommended this author, so I looked her up and found collection of The Arcadia Fall Collection. Once I realized there was a prequel collection I wanted to read that first. All that being said, I'm glad I did! This was a great read and easy to follow and kept me going. Definitely going to thank my colleague for recommending it. I feel this collection provides a good background to explain the actions of Chloe in the next collection. I am glad however that this collection was made to include all the parts (1-6). Each part of rather short, similar to chapters in a novel but time passes between each. So I would recommend reading the collection instead of separately.

I am excited to start the next, Arcadia Falls Collection, and hear more about Chloe and see how her am Drew do!

Brandi's Thoughts:
Origins and Impulse (The Arcadia Falls Chronicles #7) by Jennifer Malone Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great short story by Jennifer! I have to admit, I wasn't all that excited to read Christina's POV after her change. But I actually really enjoyed it. The detail she used to describe her transitioning to a "new" life was good. Also, I liked reading more about Anthony and am so glad Christina went with him to learn how to be a good vamp. It ended before I was ready to let them go. I really enjoyed watching her friendship flourish with Anthony. Next up, reading from Alice's POV.

Maybe Gavin will find his love in Greece. I feel so bad for him. He needs some one :)

In this foreign country, in the very earth she stands on, she feels the call of her magic stronger than she ever has. Even with the power she wields, Alice has always felt inferior to her fellow Hunter’s. But now, she grows stronger than ever and hopes to use what she has gained against Pavlos the vampire and finally feel she is an equal.

Brandi's Thoughts:
Mortals and Magic by Jennifer Malone Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Definitely enjoyed reading Alice's POV! I like the others in the series assumed her and Oscar were already together. He was always there for her, it was so clear that he loved her, so I am happy they cleared it up for themselves. Like all the other stories, I want more lol. Next book is Oscars, which is good bc his story so far has been very limited. All we know is that he is a siren and has some family still in Greece. That's it, so I'm excited to get to know him more. Keep them coming Jennifer!

Brandi's Thoughts:
Enemies by Robert J. Crane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thank you Robert Crane!

Crane once again writes a great story! My favorite was delving more into Mythology in this installment. Having more interaction with the "old" Gods was a good touch.

I also really enjoyed getting to know Janus and I really hope he gets through his injury. For a few books now, we've thought there were clear lines of whose good and whose bad. The dictoriate being the good guys and Omega bad. Crane did an excellent job messing with our heads in this book. Nothing is a clear line anymore, it's more who is the lesser evil. I'm a fan of the group of Omega survivors so far and am excited to learn more about them.

Now on too the next book for me. Great job Robert, thank you for writing this series!

Trial by Dreams by Jolene Buchheit
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow!

First let me just say, I absolutely did not expect that to happen at the end! Major twist. Good job on that, I don't recall any foreshadowing. I like to be surprised :)

Anywho, great 2nd installment to the series. Cant wait for more. Hopefully Julia calms down a little bit. Sometimes I forget they are supposed to be seniors in high school and not middle schoolers. Reading about the closeness of Lizzy, Taylor and Julia makes me miss my high school friendships. I absolutely love it.

Also, I really enjoyed getting to know more of the Greek gods and goddesses on this bool. Alot of research went in. I don't know much about mythology but it sounds pretty legit. :) Excited to meet more in the next book.

Keep them coming Jolene.
