Supernatural Devices Review

Published: October 27, 2011

Goodreads Synopsis:

Scarlett was a sensible seventeen year old young lady or so everyone thought, but there was definitely more to her. The daughter of famous English Egyptologists and archeologists Theodore and Gemma Seely, she was prone to adventure and all the world had to offer.

It was the 1890s, and she had just received a letter from one of her parents' dearest friend, a certain detective who lived on Baker Street, who needed her help on a case most bizarre.

As she embarks through the supernatural side of London, ventures into the forbidden realms bordering Victorian society; often accompanied by a dashing but infuriating Lord Darthmoor; Scarlett's first case, which had seemed so innocent at first had taken a turn for the unexpected and dangerous.

My Thoughts:
I loved Scarlett she was so fiery and independent yet retained some lady like behavior. I thought the males in this book were awesome there were four rather important men in the story and all of them sexy and different. Of course Cruces had my heart from His and Scarlett's first meeting, but then Tavian gave him a run for his money. I like Scarlett's unique aibilty and the fact that this story also involves the famous Sherlock Holmes. I didn't like the length of the book it seemed more a novella then a full length novel but the story spun during those 143 pages was amazing enough for me not to care that much.

Bleeding Violet Review

Bleeding Violet
Published: December 26, 2009

Goodreads Synopsis:
Love can be a dangerous thing...

Hanna simply wants to be loved. With a head plagued by hallucinations, a medicine cabinet full of pills, and a closet stuffed with frilly, violet dresses, Hanna's tired of being the outcast, the weird girl, the freak. So she runs away to Portero, Texas in search of a new home.
But Portero is a stranger town than Hanna expects. As she tries to make a place for herself, she discovers dark secrets that would terrify any normal soul. Good thing for Hanna, she's far from normal. As this crazy girl meets an even crazier town, only two things are certain: Anything can happen and no one is safe.

My Thoughts:

At first this book confused me and honestly even through the story or at the end nothing was crystal clear but it all fit together. I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to finish this book at first because of how strange it was but it actually ended up keeping my interest. I liked the weirdness a cloudy plot which is unusual for me, because I like things explained till the are clear. I liked the main character Hanna because she had serious flaws just like a real person would. Wyat the male lead was flawed as well but strong, smart, funny and romantic. Rosalee put on a hard facade only to later to reveal her soft side.

My Soul to Save

My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers, #2)
Goodreads Synopsis:
When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.
So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn't wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can't cry for someone who has no soul.
The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad's ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend's loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can't possibly understand.
Kaylee can't let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk….

My Thoughts:
I liked this book, it wasn't as good as the first one. I kinda feel like Kaylee is stupid, this book just made her seem really dense. I did like to see Tod s o Concerned for someone though. I also like the trips to the netherworld and the descriptions because there wasn't any of that in the first one. I'm also glad that Kaylee and her dad are living together and actually being a family, but I wonder about the rest of the series because as I said earlier Kaylee seems to be dense, will she ever wisen up or is she always gonna be in the dark?

Destined Review

Published: October 25, 2011

Goodreads Synopsis:
Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet – which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together – if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow…

But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia’s handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there’s the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more – or possibly less – than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there’s something strangely familiar about him…

Will Neferet’s true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox’s humanity in time to protect him – and everyone – from his own fate?

My Thoughts:
I loved the struggle within Aurox and Kalona, because it's always amazing when people change for the better. I hate the fact that Heath was involved again...he died and he should stay dead and let Zoey move on! I love Thantos' involvement with the house of night and how she tries to thwart Neferet. This Story was suspenseful but dragged a little in the beginning and of course hang a cliff hanger end that would infuriate the white bull himself! I love the focus on Rephiam and Kalona because their character flaws turned out to be their greatest strength. I love this series but kind of wish Neferet would just get defeated already and am a little concerned about the next few books and my love for them. I love the description of darkness in the book and how it is greedy and must feed of Neferet constantly in order to carry out her ill wishes. I'm satisfied with the book as a whole but like I said earlier I do worry that the whole Neferet is going to be drug out and ruin the series that I have fallen in love with.
