My Soul to Save

My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers, #2)
Goodreads Synopsis:
When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.
So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn't wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can't cry for someone who has no soul.
The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad's ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend's loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can't possibly understand.
Kaylee can't let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk….

My Thoughts:
I liked this book, it wasn't as good as the first one. I kinda feel like Kaylee is stupid, this book just made her seem really dense. I did like to see Tod s o Concerned for someone though. I also like the trips to the netherworld and the descriptions because there wasn't any of that in the first one. I'm also glad that Kaylee and her dad are living together and actually being a family, but I wonder about the rest of the series because as I said earlier Kaylee seems to be dense, will she ever wisen up or is she always gonna be in the dark?

The Past Came Hunting

The Past Came Hunting

Published:September 19,2011

Goodreads Synopsis:
Fifteen years ago a young Colorado Springs police officer arrested a teen runaway accused of aiding a convenience store robbery and attempted murder. She was innocent, but still served prison time briefly. Her testimony sent the real thief to jail for much longer. Now she’s a young widow raising a son, and the man she put in prison is free and seeking revenge.

She moves to a home in a new neighborhood—then learns that her next-door neighbor is the by-the-book officer who arrested her. Now he’s a Colorado Springs P.D. Lieutenant. Like it or not, he may be the only one who can protect her and her son from the past he helped create.

My Thoughts:
I liked this book. The characters were really well developed, and the story was romantic and suspenseful with a little humor mixed in. I loved the family dynamics in this story, it showed how a single mom, with a full time job as a florist takes care of her kid and then how a single dad with a full time job as a cop struggles to be there for his son and do the job he loves. I loved the fact that I felt like I really knew the characters and their values. This book kept me reading from page one, I was never bored
