Mr. Robot meets UnReal in a story of celebrities and anarchists, reality shows and evil corporations, romance and self-discovery.
Nineteen-year-old Wren Iver is nothing more than a dying girl with cancer, but when megastar Sloan Lux dies right before filming starts on the year’s most anticipated reality show, producers scramble to secretly replace her—with Wren. She’s swept into Hollywood and promised a cure by VidaCorp, the nation’s richest bioengineering corporation, for simply replacing Lux. It’s a deal Wren can’t refuse.
The decision could get her killed, because she isn’t the only cast member with ulterior motives
The Whitebirds, a social anarchist group, has infiltrated the show, and they’ll stop at nothing to use Sloane Lux’s fame to derail VidaCorp’s efforts to legalize their controversial, life-changing drug—a drug that might kill more people than it saves. Caught in the middle of a game between a powerful corporation and ruthless anarchist group, Wren will do anything to survive.
Will Wren secure the drug she needs to survive, or will she become another casualty in the anarchists’ fight against VidaCorp?

As the fear of failure builds and time ticks away, Julia and Vander must learn to trust their instincts – and one another – before their reality spins into a nightmare that rips them apart.

Book 2 in the Charmed Trials Series.

Brandi's Thoughts:

Wow! First let me just say, I absolutely did not expect that to happen at the end! Major twist. Good job on that, I don't recall any foreshadowing. I like to be surprised :) Anywho, great 2nd installment to the series. Cant wait for more. Hopefully Julia calms down a little bit. Sometimes I forget they are supposed to be seniors in high school and not middle schoolers. Reading about the closeness of Lizzy, Taylor and Julia makes me miss my high school friendships. I absolutely love it. Also, I really enjoyed getting to know more of the Greek gods and goddesses on this bool. Alot of research went in. I don't know much about mythology but it sounds pretty legit. :) Excited to meet more in the next book. Keep them coming Jolene.

It's a talent he uses often to get what he wants--only his charms don't work on Julia. Now he is anxious to figure out why, and the closer he tries to get, the more desperate she is to stay away--especially when he somehow awakens a side of her she never knew existed.

Brandi's Thoughts:

Great book! Its been in my library for awhile and I finally got to it. Very glad and sad it took me so long. :) The friendship between the three girls is great, Lizzy and Taylor make me laugh over their fangirling. Definitely recommend reading the series, you wont regret it! Now to start the next book.

Prince of the Moon Review

Prince of the moon

Goodreads Synopsis:

Zwaantie enters Stella with only one goal—find Phoenix and run away. Only she discovers that Phoenix has disappeared—without her.

Stella is unlike anything Zwaantie has ever experienced. From the bright lights to the moving pictures, it's all overwhelming. The moment she steps foot in the country she wants only one thing—to go home.

Her plans go awry when Leo reveals to her the real reason he needs to marry her—to thwart an awful prophecy and save his sister's baby from the flesh eating monsters. Not only that, but the Voice has somehow followed her into Stella and wants her dead. She can't go home.

Trapped in a world where her every move is on display, engaged to a man she doesn't love, and with death around every corner, Zwaantie seeks solace in newfound friends and magic she never believed possible.

Will Zwaantie rise as the powerful princess she should be and do the right thing or will she forsake all for her own happiness?

Brandi's Thoughts:

****contains some spoilers****

This picks up exactly where God of the Sun stopped, which I personally love. Prefer not to have gaps that are explained later. Stella seems so much better than Sol, love all the magic and the clothes sound beautiful. I want some of them lol. (oooooh a coloring book would be so cool with this book with all the different dresses Zwaantie and Sage where). It was great meeting all of Leo’s family. Since Zwaantie was pulled into the wall after Wilma told her who wants her dead, the memory is lost. I have a guess though, I think its Luna, pent up frustration from being her slave for all those years. Im not sure, this is just my guess. I loved this book so much, cannot wait to read more in the series. I hope Zwaantie gets to love Leo. I definitely recommend this series, it is so great and descriptive, wonderful world building.

Brandi's Thoughts:

Another great novel in the Dragon Kings series. Skye will not disappoint. It take place basically at the same time as the previous book, Valentine. Answers the greatest question, "What happened to Rowan?!" The friendship continues to grow between Skye and Rowan, it's so beautiful. Of course another cliffhanger! Wonderful read, Kimberly!

Valentine Review

Valentine

Series: The Dragon Kings #3
published: June 24, 2016

Goodreads synopsis:
Three kings will arise. One from the land. One from the sea. One from fire.
Hazel’s entire world is turned upside down after her brother Rowan goes missing. Everyone believes he was eaten by a dragon. Everyone but Hazel’s sister, Aspen, that is.
Hazel has never heard of the dragon prophecy before. She knew about dragons, of course. Her sister, Aspen, made sure of that even though Hazel would have preferred to stay ignorant of the vicious creatures. But the more Hazel learns about Aspen and their family’s connection to the dragons, the less she wishes she knew.
Val never wanted to be king. He never even considered it a possibility. But now the prophecy’s fulfillment has begun, and it starts with him. His journey begins by training with Obsidian. In the process, he learns secrets from his past that shatters everything he knows..
On the way to mainland from Hawaii, Hazel and Val’s worlds collide and will soon have to rely on each other to find Rowan and prevent a human-dragon war.

Brandi's Thoughts:

***Contains Spoilers***

I can never say anything bad about Kimberly's books. Love them all and this is no different. The group finally figures out who The human killer is. I think it's kinda poetic how it taken care of too. In the first book, Aspen was raped by Marcellus and Sid took care of him. This novel, Theo traumatized Hazel and her bf, Val, took care of him. Each taking care of their women. Loved it like always. Off to read the next.

Aspen Review

Aspen
Written By: Kimberly Loth
Series: The Dragon Kings #2
published: April 4, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis:
Sid thought the deaths would end when Marcellus died.
But he thought wrong.
Reeling from the loss of those around him, Sid sets off, not only to avenge the deaths of those he loves, but also to find a way to save his own life.
But the closer he gets to answers, the more people he puts in danger.
Only Sid has the power to end the killer's reign. But it might cost him the one thing he holds most precious.

This thrilling follow-up to Obsidian is a journey of love, death, and betrayal and answers the one question everyone’s been asking:

Is Aspen alive?

Brandi's Thoughts:

More and more dragons in this book and its wonderful! I love anything Kimberly Loth writes and I am super happy I started her dragon series. It's unlike anything I've read. The characters have good depth and they keep you guessing.

Reading the first couple pages I actually thought she did what I was scared of. (probably doesn't make sense til you read it lol). Thank goodness though, she didn't. Phew, bullet dodged. Aspens brother Rowan finally gets more outgoing and faces his fears and I love that. Seeing his progression and him finding out that working out is a good release for all that anxiety and fear, it's definitely relatable. Him and Skye is beautiful, I wish Skye would feel the same way that he does. And isn't Runa just the cutest thing!

Oh and I totally called it! I was right about who the murdering Dragon was! Can't wait for Sid finds out. Ohhhhh there will be drama lol.

Off to the next book!
