Reaper Review

Reaper (Soul Screamers 3.5)
By:Rachel Vincent
Published:December 10, 2010

Tod Hudson was a typical teenager. He liked girls, sports, food and tolerated his younger brother, Nash. In fact, he had his whole life in front of him--and due to his bean sidhe heritage, it was going to be a very long life indeed. And then the car accident occurred.
Suddenly Tod's future wasn't so sure, and he had to make a choice. Life... Death... or something Between....

My Thoughts:
I liked learning the story of how Tod became a Reaper. It also made me lean more towards Tod than nash, I'm so confused on which of the two I really like. It was a wonderful novella and It gave back story on Tod that gave you a different view of him as a person Reaper.

Death by Diamonds Review

 Death by Diamonds
(Vintage Magic #3)
By: Annette Blair
Published:July 6, 2010

Madeira Cutler loves her Vintage Magic boutique, but the 'visions' she gets from the garments can be hard to handle, especially when she knows the owner. At first she's thrilled to receive a package containing the beautifully bejeweled dress she designed for actress and old friend Dominique Delong while in fashion school. But the dress comes with a disturbing message from Dominique, who it seems took her last bow under very mysterious circumstances.

My thoughts:
I loved this book, it was my favorite of the series so far. It had you going from the first page and it also helped that their was some testosterone battles between Nick and Werner, which was amusing and sweet. Mad, of course was playing Nancy Drew as usual and she did so well and managed not to get hurt in the process. Again the characters are awesome as was the storyline. I also loved that Mad's ability was used more in this book than the others and the fact that she is learning how to hone it.

Larceny & Lace Review

Published:August 4,2009

Goodreads Synopsis:
Madeira Cutler is busy opening her new vintage clothing store in what was once the town's morgue when she discovers an intruder snooping around a bunch of bones in a body drawer. Now, she'll have to dig up more than the past to solve a crime.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first book in the series, A Veiled deception. I loved the relationship between Mad and Werner, and kinda rooting for him now even though I still like nick. The struggle within Mad to embrace her mothers belief is intriguing because it comes so naturally but she is still unsure. The relationship shift between Harry and Fiona was also charming to read about. The characters just keep growing and you keep learning more about them. A few new characters were introduced in a crazy conspiracy that kept me reading the whole time. Annette Blair is an awesome writer and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

A Veiled Deception Review

Published:January 29,2009

Goodreads Synopsis:
The right dress can be magic; the wrong one murder

From the national bestselling author of Sensation’s Witch series comes the new Vintage Magic Mystery series, featuring Madeira Cutler. While opening her own vintage clothing shop, Maddie must clear her family’s name when her sister’s wedding festivities hit a snag: murder.

My thoughts:
I loved Madeira and her name. I love that clothes "speak" to her and her passion for vintage clothes as well as her other "gift". I also love her unyielding love for her family and her inability to not be heroic. It also helped to have a hot male named Nick Jaconetti to put a little sizzle in the mix. I like the story it was original and interesting. I loved all the different lives being intertwined and how it all got resolved in the end, cuz I'm a sucker for a happy ending.I can't wait to read the other books in the series to find out more about the characters.

My Book Boyfriend {8}

This week I chose FBI agent Nick Janconetti, from A Veiled Deception, book one in the Vintage Magic series by Annette Blair. P.S.-This actor/model's eye are amazingly beautiful!!

Nick Janconetti

Wide-shouldered
Classically Handsome
Like a Roman sculpture come to life

Nick- "You like how I smell?"
Madeira-"You know I love Ultraviolet Man, you interfering beast."
Nick-"I do,you impetuous beauty."

{The seat belt sign went on as the flight crew prepared for landing.}Madeira-"Wow, that was fast."
{Tickling her her as he whispered.}Nick-"Don't ever say that to me in bed."
{Hardly likely, he knew how to take his time.}Madeira-"There will be no more of that, mister, if you keep calling me nuts.
Nick-"I didn't, you did."
Madeira-"You didn't deny it."
{He nibbled her ear}Nick-"There will be more, and you'll love it."

I chose this actor/model because he is smokin' and again absolutely love his eyes, plus he fit my vision of a roman sculpture come to life!

The Vicious Deep Review

Expected Publication: May 1,2012

Goodreads Synopsis:
For Tristan Hart, everything changes with one crashing wave.

He was gone for three days. Sucked out to sea in a tidal wave and spit back ashore at Coney Island with no memory of what happened. Now his dreams are haunted by a terrifying silver mermaid with razor-sharp teeth.

His best friend Layla is convinced something is wrong. But how can he explain he can sense emotion like never before? How can he explain he’s heir to a kingdom he never knew existed? That he’s suddenly a pawn in a battle as ancient as the gods.

Something happened to him in those three days. He was claimed by the sea…and now it wants him back.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book,it was well written and the characters were well developed, they give you back story on the main character and his family throughout the book. The story was unique and I love how the authors describes the mermaids and mermen. I also loved how this story was from a merman's point of view because when you think mermaids, you think of girls not the guys. This story has a little bit of romance and some awesome adventure. I am super excited for the books that are sure to come as the ending leaves you wanting more.

My Soul to Keep Review

Published: June 1, 2010

Goodreads Synopsis:
Kaylee has one addiction: her very hot, very popular boyfriend, Nash. A banshee like Kaylee, Nash understands her like no one else. Nothing can come between them.Until something does.Demon breath. No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that really can kill you. Somehow the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends—one of whom is already hooked. And so is someone else…

My Thoughts:
I was so mad at this book, Nash was so cute and sweet, dang it! Poor Kaylee she just can't seem to keep trouble away from her and her friends and family. I can't believe how when I went into this book I was team Nash and then by the middle of the book and through the end I switched to team Tod, and his softer side. I can't believe Nash and how he acted and let himself get into the mess he was in. I can't wait to read the next installment and see if it will make me swap teams again or if I'll stay team Tod or if I'll be stuck somewhere in the middle! This book was well written and kept me reading the whole time just like the first two but I do have to say I liked this one and the first one the best number two was good but it wasn't my favorite.

This Week's Question:
What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

My Answer:
I really don't know, I am always scared for books to be turned into movies because I've never seen a book turned movie that lived up to the book, close but not as good. So I guess any book I've ever liked would scare me, Harry Potter being turned into a movie scared me, they were good but not as good as the books, The House of night series being turned into movies worries me and the Alex cross novels being turned in to movies worried me but the two that re out are good but not as good.

The Talking Teacup

This Week's Question is:
Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

My Answer:
I have not ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review, I don't usually buy books based solely on others reviews because just because someone didn't like a book doesn't mean that I won't like it so I read others reviews, read the summary of the book and then think really hard on whether or not I want to purchase the book.

Waiting on Wednesday {7}

Shadow of The Witte Wieven

Despite a contract on her head, lone Drug Enforcement Agent, Aliyana Montijo must ferret out a mole and stop the assassination of top DEA officials, as so ordered by the Colombian drug lord she seeks to take down. The task is a daunting one, for there is no one she can trust. No one that is, until she encounters a most unlikely ally.
Former seventeenth century captain of the Dutch West Indies Company, Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness, now from a parallel dimension, encounters the beautiful agent during an unearthly storm in the Bermuda triangle. Drawn to the Spanish beauty he rescues, he pledges his assistance, despite her reluctance to accept either his help or his heart.
Can Wolf bridge both space and time to claim the woman he loves?

This book sounds very interesting!

My Book Boyfriend {7}

This week my book boyfriend is Professor Anson McCord from A Serpent in Turquoise by Peggy Nicholson, He is rugged and hot and a smart-ass, but who doesn't love a little wit!

Professor Anson McCord

wonderfully carved lips
Lean, muscular body
Nice eyes, crinkled at the corners
Dark Brown Hair
Shoulders and buns to die for
sense of humor
Archeologist

" 'Fraid we're way past that. I'm McCord, and who the heck are you? Tell me please I didn't Kiss and agent of the IRs, hell-bent on an audit. I'd have to shoot myself. You're Lorraine who?"

"So say it! 'McCord, I owe you my sorry life. If I know where to find a dino, it's your with a bow on it.' or would you rather I turn around and hang you back in the tree where I found you?

McCord-" Too bad. I was thinking it was time for a siesta."
Raine-"Considering we broke camp two hours ago, isn't it a bit early to get horizontal?"
McCord-"Who needs to be horizontal? With a little creativity..."

Raine-"I Think I'd fall asleep on you." she smiled against his lips. "Can I have a rain check?"
McCord-"The whole dang checkbook. Cash 'em in anytime. They'll never bounce." His kisses softened, withdrew gradually to her temple, her ear, the top of her shoulder.

I chose Mathew McConaughey to play my Professor Anson McCord because he is hot and could like rugged and I could totally see him making smart retorts like McCord!
