Deep into the heart of a Rose

Deep Into The Heart of a Rose
Published: January 19,2012

Goodreads Synopsis:

Sometimes days happen to you,  and sometimes you happen to days
With this thought in his heart, Edward T. Cozzlebottom sat in his cottage and composed a love letter to his neighbor, Ezmerelda Wimbish. The creation of this simple letter set into motion events that will lead both Mr. Cozzlebottom and Mizz Wimbish on perilous and wondrous journeys outside their idyllic village in the Vale.

Their simultaneous adventures carry them down opposite paths, where they encounter the Wicked Tinker, the Walrus King, the Trench Systers, and ultimately, the enigmatic leader of the Black Lodge, Abraham Jefferies. It is the mysterious Abraham Jefferies who understands the full power and meaning of the letter, and it is his will to destroy it that places Mr. Cozzlebottom, Mizz Wimbish, and all they have ever known on the verge of abyss.

Poetic, philosophical, and entertaining, Deep Into the Heart of a Rose takes you on a journey to a place both strange and familiar. A journey that leads you both away from - and back to - yourself.

I had a hard time finishing this book because it doesn't make any sense to me and I apologize for being so harsh but I'm being truthful. It was hard for me to get into and even harder for me to follow.I'm sorry to be so negative. I do however love the poems in the book!

My Thoughts:
I had a hard time finishing this book because it doesn't make any sense to me and I apologize for being so harsh but I'm being truthful. It was hard for me to get into and even harder for me to follow.I'm sorry to be so negative. The story line was a little confusing to me and I never felt like I got anything cleared up for me to fully understand the story.I do however love the poems in the book!

Feature & Follow Friday {2}

This week's feature blogs are:
Goldilox and the Three Weres

This week's Question was:
What would you prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?

I would rather read my favorite book over and over again until I was sick of it because at least I know and love the story instead of having to deal with books that I don't love!

Desperate Housedogs Review

Published: October 17, 2011

Goodreads Synopsis:
When Caro Lamont, former psychologist turned pet therapist makes a house call to help Kevin Blackstone with his two misbehaving German Shepherd dogs, she expects frantic dogs, she expects a frantic dog owner, she even expects frantic neighbors. What she doesn’t expect is that two hours later the police will find Kevin dead, his dogs impounded; and that as the last person to see Kevin alive (well, except for the killer) she is suddenly a person of interest, at least according to Homicide Detective Judd Malone.

Sparkle Abbey is the pseudonym of two mystery authors (Mary Lee Woods and Anita Carter). They are friends and neighbors as well as co-writers of the Pampered Pets Mystery Series. The pen name was created by combining the names of their rescue pets - Sparkle (Mary Lee’s cat) and Abbey (Anita’s dog). They reside in central Iowa, but if they could write anywhere, you would find them on the beach with their laptops and depending on the time of day either an iced tea or a margarita.) My Thoughts:

This book was good, I like that the main character wasn't a detective just couldn't resist knowing the truth. I like that there were two hot males mentioned in the book. I love that the lead character Caro was a pet psychiatrist, and I understand that the talk about the animals was necessary for making the character who she is but I think that there was just a tad too much about the animals and not quite enough about the plot of the story as far as the mystery goes but I still enjoyed it and would read any other books written by this author.

My shoulders sagged, the fire of my anger dying a
quick death. Our gazes met, exactly as they had onlya short while ago. A shiver of awareness stole over
me. I drank in his appeal. I could feel his body heat.
His fingers were calloused and created a dizzying
friction against my skin.
In the next instant, he released me and stepped
away. He tangled a hand in his dark hair. “What are
you doing to me?”
My jaw dropped in astonishment. “Me? I'm not doing
anything.” Except wanting you , I added silently.
I still wanted him to kiss me. The need was so strong
that I suddenly didn't care about being kicked out.
About getting in trouble and having my memory
wiped.
“Not doing anything—ha!” He snorted. Once again,
he closed the distance between us.
Yes, I thought. Closer…closer…
His clean, pine scent wafted around me. “You're all I can think about anymore,” he whispered in my ear. “I look for you in the halls. I'm constantly wondering what you're doing and who you're doing it with. Why do you think I was looking in on the party? I was hoping you'd catch a glimpse of me and come out. I can't get you out of my mind, even though you're forbidden.” I gulped. So, he felt it, too, then. The hum of attraction. The need. I opened my mouth to reply, to tell him how I felt, but he shook his head. “Don't say a damn word,” he said in that whisper. “If I hear that you want me, too, I'll lose control.” He pushed out a shaky breath, and it fanned my lobe. “Boss watched your fight. He watches and sees everything because there are cameras everywhere. Even here.” I paled. “Come on,” Ryan said, loudly this time. “Boss wants to see you and Allison.” Ryan wanted me. Ryan really wanted me!

Expected Publication Date: May 17th 2012

From Goodreads:

With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.
Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

I Love this Series and can't wait to read this!!!!!

Don't Bite the Messenger Review

Published:January 16,2012

Goodreads Synopsis:
The vampire population may have created an economic boom in Alaska, but their altered energy field fries most technology. They rely on hard-living--and short-lived--couriers to get business done...couriers like Sydney Kildare.

Sydney has survived to the ripe old age of twenty-six by being careful. She's careful when navigating her tempestuous clients, outrunning hijackers and avoiding anyone who might distract her from her plan of retiring young to a tropical, vampire-free island.

Her attitude--and immunity to vampires' allure--have made her the target of a faction of vampires trying to reclaim their territory. Her only ally is Malcolm Kelly, a secretive charmer with the uncanny habit of showing up whenever she's in trouble. Caught in the middle of a vampire turf war, Sydney has to count on Malcolm to help her survive, or the only place she'll retire is her grave...

I Loved The Female lead Sydney Kildare, she's 26 years old, strong and smart, she's a courier for the vampires. She doesn't tell anyone her name and constantly changes her looks, never takes the same route twice and disguises her scent so the vampires can't find her. Her only connection is an old mentor that got out of the business a while ago. She has been planning moving to Hawaii for a while but life just happens and plan change.

Sydney finds herself in the middle of a vampire turf war before she can leave town and in the midst of it becomes entangled with a mysterious hottie named Malcolm. Sydney allows him closer to her then she should and later realizes that things aren't what they first appeared ad must decide if she can really trust him after finding out the truth about him.

It is a pretty short story but it was well written and I fell in love with the characters and wish there was more about them. I liked the fast romance as it served the length of the story well but I would have loved more of a romance just because the characters where so good, Sydney was an amazingly strong female lead and Malcolm was a Hot caring Male. This novella had some funny parts even though the tone was occasionally grim but still I laughed at the banter between Malcolm and Sydney.

So I wonder if she will make this part of a series or if it was intended to leave an open ended feeling. I wish Regan would write more about them cuz the end just left me wanting more.
